(SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA) – The Davenport Companies of South Yarmouth, MA recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary with a vintage-style gala at The Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA. The company retrospective spanning 60 years in business was held on stage in the playhouse, complete with videos and a multimedia presentation. State Representative Tim Whelan congratulated all 200+ guests on their hard work, community involvement and ability to work together to sustain a strong business for 60 years. He also presented Jane Davenport with citations from both the House of Representatives and the Governor’s office recognizing the achievement. The celebration then moved out to a tented dinner on the lawn of the Playhouse, complete with an authentic Dixieland jazz band, vintage cars and themed décor.
The company also inducted five staff members into the company’s “15-Year Club.” The Club honors those who have reached 15 years of service. Recognized this year were Alan Bearse, Heather Murphy and Leigh Taylor of Red Jacket Resorts, as well as Tom Grew of Davenport Building Company and Josephine Marceline of Thirwood Place. In addition to the company party, new inductees join former 15-Year Club members at an annual themed weekend at the company’s Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in North Conway, NH. Complementing the festivities, there is a fundraising auction among the club members with all proceeds benefiting the local community.
“We appreciate and honor the contributions of our entire team and their families. We enjoy creating an annual celebration highlighting their hard work and sharing their story with the entire company,” says DeWitt Davenport, CEO of the Davenport Companies. The company, established in 1956, is a fourth-generation family-owned business that now employs over 1,300 people at more than a dozen companies throughout New England, including commercial and residential real estate, assisted living, construction, a variety of service businesses and seven resort hotels.
